The Occupational Health and Safety Administration was created when Congress ratified the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. Created to help employers and employees reduce the amount of on the job injuries, illnesses, and deaths, OSHA is the governing body for all matters of occupational safety and health for the private sector.
ASSE
Founded in 1911, the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) is the world’s oldest professional safety society. ASSE promotes the expertise, leadership and commitment of its members, while providing them with professional development, advocacy and standards development. It also sets the occupational safety, health and environmental community’s standards for excellence and ethics.
CCA
The Concrete Contractors Association of Greater Chicago was formed in 1939 by dedicated contractors to gain appropriate professional identity in the construction industry, and to collectively pursue goals to raise their performance especially on a qualitative basis. The work of the CCA is to accumulate current and vital information and provide it to its members in order that they might maintain their status as major producers in the construction industry.
National Safety Council
The nation’s leading safety advocate for more than 100 years, the National Safety Council is a nonprofit organization with the mission to save lives by preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the road through leadership, research, education and advocacy. Working to make the world measurably safer, NSC advances this mission by engaging businesses, government agencies, elected officials and the public to help prevent the fifth leading cause of death in the U.S. – unintentional injuries.

The Underground Contractors Association (UCA), established in 1957, is a not-for-profit trade association of contractors and suppliers in sewer, water, utility and underground industries throughout Illinois. UCA is active in market development, information, education, labor and especially the promotion of safety. UCA is committed to helping its members and the industry.

American Society For Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM)
Established in 1980, the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) is a personal membership group of the American Hospital Association (AHA) with nearly 6,000 members representing risk management, patient safety, insurance, law, finance and other related professions.
ASHRM promotes effective and innovative risk management strategies and professional leadership through education, recognition, advocacy, publications, networking and interactions with leading healthcare organizations and government agencies. ASHRM initiatives focus on developing and implementing safe and effective patient care practices, the preservation of financial resources and the maintenance of safe working environments.
Valley Industrial Association
Established in 1902, the organization we know today as the Valley Industrial Association was founded to give area manufacturers and the businesses that serve them a place to connect for professional growth, shared information and common resources that can help operations, and to support causes important to industry. Originally founded by 16 member companies, three of which remain members today (Richards Wilcox, Aurora Metals, and Aurora Textiles), the VIA currently serves more than 200 members, including manufacturers and businesses that serve them, area educational institutions and municipalities. The VIA’s service area includes Kane, Kendall, DeKalb and western DuPage Counties.
Chicagoland Healthcare Risk Management Society (CHRMS)
The Chicagoland Healthcare Risk Management Society (CHRMS) is an affiliated chapter of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) and was organized in 1980. CHRMS is governed by a twelve member board of directors in accordance with CHRMS Bylaws and serves to provide its members with educational, networking and professional development opportunities within healthcare and risk management. Members of the board are elected by and from the Society’s membership. Responsibility for educational programs, publishing and other activities is delegated to various committees appointed by the President. Board directives, project implementation and other operational functions are executed by the membership.
